The Research
We work for an Engineering firm where you are required to drive to clients sites. Often more than one person needs to attend the site. Leaving you with either being a chauffeur or a passenger.
Many of the company’s young engineers will buy their first car here and recently a few or the senior engineers also purchased new vehicles. And it was found that neither car-shows nor the “car of the year” was very help-full to advice people on what is the best car for work, especially our work. Another question was whether these first time buyers and senior engineers consider their work and more importantly their colleagues when purchasing a car?
An internet questionnaire was completed by respondents from the company. It posed questions to both passengers and chauffeurs. And the results was given in a presentation.
In summary, most respondents considered their home-live (kids, etc.) and work (non-passengers) when purchasing a car. That is shown by most chauffeurs considering fuel economy and reliability when purchasing a car. Most passengers want to travel in a reliable car with performance.
In conclusion, engineers and people do consider their work when purchasing a car, but they don’t consider their colleague-passengers’ comfort. This does not seem to matter much as both the passengers and chauffeurs rate a car’s reliability as important.
Welcome!
